“Coming to this pilgrimage has been the most eye-opening, most emotional journey for myself, and I’m sure for my daughter, and for all of us that are here today. When I return to our retirement community, I’m going to tell everybody what happened, and I’m gonna spread the word.”

The Jerome Rohwer Pilgrimage allows survivors, descendants, and others to learn about and discuss the legacy and aftermath of WWII era concentration camps in the USA.  One day of the Pilgrimage is a trip to the concentration camp sites in Jerome and Rohwer, with a short program in McGehee, AR, that includes taiko drummers and a short Obon festival to honor the spirits of our ancestors.  There will be two full days of programming in Little Rock, with historical sessions, survivor perspectives, intergenerational and generational discussions, social activities, and opportunities to research family histories.  Learning  and open conversation lead to understanding and healing.  A program summary is linked below.

The Jerome Rohwer Committee encourages survivors, students, and Yonsei and Gosei participation.  We offer reduced or no registration fees to survivors with financial need.  Students and those 25 years old or younger, with financial need, may also receive reduced registration rates.  If you would like to take advantage of the discounts, please write to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  A generous donation was recently made to JRC, and we will be offering several travel fund grants to students.  One grant may be offered to a teacher.  Please stay tuned, as the program is being developed, and details will be forthcoming.  Please write to us if you are interested, and we will let you know the details and when the application process opens.
